Indian Computer Wizkid Joins PayPal Co-Founder's Startup Nursery

A 19 year old Indian computer wiz kid, Diwank Singh Tomer, has just moved to Silicon Valley to join a startup that is to be founded by PayPal co-founder and Facebook’s first investor, Peter Thiel, reports India Today. The start-up is to help people learn code.

Diwank dropped out of his Computer Science course at prestigious Birla Institute of Technology to join Theil Foundation, which is offering a whopping $100,000 to 20 youngsters to help them launch a business of their own. Tomer is now designing an interactive learning environment in America.

Tomer is an alumnus of Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie and he believes that dropping out of college was important part of growing-up process. He also added that, instead of promoting students to ask questions, traditional Indian schools force them to only appear smart. The youngster also opines that people learn best when they have access to mentors and the ability to learn in a way that suits them.

The Thiel Foundation mentors the selected young entrepreneurs during the two-year fellowship to pursue their area of interest from robotics to fashion but it does not entitle them to join a school or get employed during the period without special approval from the foundation.

Thiel said that the entrepreneurs have exceeded the Foundation's expectations, and that their intention is to help a small number of creative people learn and accomplish more than they might have otherwise.

Tomer has already developed an algorithm that intuitive responds to the user’s actions by considering the user’s interaction with the site.
