84-inch TV - LG goes beyond 1080p

The maximum resolution for media isn’t limited to just full HD because in fact, there are higher resolutions than that as well but the current technology does not support it for a multitude of reasons.

For example, there would be an enormous amount of data needed to be stored for a short while due to all the pixels being stored. In addition to that, there aren’t any consumer friendly gadgets that would be able to record as well as playback the media captured.
The 4K format is double of what the current full HD could deliver and is considered as ultra-definition as well. There aren’t many televisions that could fully support this format. In fact, there are only a handful and these cost a lot of money as well. LG decided to get the ball rolling on this one with its 84-inch 4K TV which will be shown at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. The resolution of this television will be at 3840×2160 pixels.

Some of the noteworthy feature would be 3D viewing and LG’s Smart TV although there will most probably be the Magic Motion remote which is upgraded from its original version. There’s no price tag for this yet but don’t expect it to be cheap.
