On the sidelines of the KTM Duke 200′s launch earlier today, there were many major announcements made about KTM’s future plans for India. First of all, KTM will launch one motorcycle each year from now on. The next big motorcycle launch from KTM will be the KTM Duke 350, essentially a bored out KTM Duke 200, with a bigger 350cc engine. The KTM Duke 350 will be launched in 2013 for the Indian market.

The Duke 350, like the 200 will be built at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan unit and will be exported to markets across the world. The KTM Duke 350 will also feature a very high localization content and this hints at a very competitive price tag as well. All KTM motorcycles will be sold through ProBiking showrooms, which will now become KTM showrooms and sell only KTM and Kawasaki motorcycles like the Ninja 250R and the 650R.
Bajaj motorcycles like the Pulsar 220 and the Avenger will no longer be sold in ProBiking showrooms. The same goes for the all new 2012 Bajaj Pulsar. The KTM Duke 350 will be followed by a fully faired single cylinder motorcycle based on KTM’s Moto3 concept. The fully faired motorcycle is expected to be based on the KTM Duke 350. This motorcycle, as IndianCarsBikes reported many months ago, will debut in 2014.
KTM plans to launch 6-7 motorcycle models in the Indian market although it didn’t specify whether the CBUs like the Duke 690 or RC8 will also be sold in India very soon even as motorcycle makers like Triumph and Ducati are coming out with very competitively priced high end performance motorcycles through the completely knocked down CKD route. Currently, the focus in on selling the KTM Duke 200 and preparing for the launch of the KTM Duke 350 by expanding the dealership reach across India.
