Most awesome Indian bikes in the 250cc segment

It seems that the Indian biking world is gearing up to offer a lot of excitement, especially in the 250cc segment.

The riding habits of Indians have undergone a sea-change with their increased passion for riding superbikes. They are even undeterred by the high pricing that accompanies the bikes and hence wish to drive these dream machines in an effort to give a new shape to their personality.

Most leading companies in the bike manufacturing segment have now started producing such bikes for coping with the increased demand as the Indian customers shift their allegiance to these superbikes particularly from foreign manufacturers. The present market for superbikes in India is dominated by Hyosung GT250R by Garware, HondaCBR 250R by Honda Motors and the Kawasaki Ninja 250R by Bajaj Auto.

The success that these superbikes are getting have inspired bike manufacturers to come out with customized versions to suit their Indian customers and hence we can expect that in the next few months the bike market in India is going to witness a flood of wide ranging powerful bikes from the top manufacturers in the world.

In this article, we take a look at some 250cc that could highlight their presence on Indian roads in the year 2012.

Honda CBR250R:

After Honda Motors ended their joint collaboration with Hero Group from India; the Honda CBR250R comes as the first offering from the former.
The single cylinder, 249cc liquid cooled, 4-cylinder engine given to the bike creates maximum power 25.8BHp@8,500rpm and peak torque 22.56Nm@7,500rpm. The bike has been introduced in two variants, one featuring ABS and the other not having the same.
Honda CBR250R 
A six-speed gearbox supports the Honda CBR250R, which can achieve a peak speed of 160kmph, and also can move to 100kmph in just 6.5seconds from static position.
The bike has been equipped with all the latest features that can help HMSI reap similar success that they had done under the Hero Honda brand name.

Hyosung GT250R:

Having received success from launching their first superbike, the Hyosung GT250R, Hyosung, the bike manufacturer from South Korea who have entered the market in partnership with Garware Motors, is now planning to launch a lower variant, specifically in the 250cc segment. This bike is expected to hit Indian roads in the middle of 2012 and is expected to be named Hyosung GT250R.

With its 249cc displacement engine, the bike will generate maximum power of 28.5BHp at 10,000rpm with peak torque 22.68Nm at 8,000rpm. It will come with a five-speed gearbox and is expected to raise the bar in this particular segment.

Kawasaki Ninja 250 R:

Kawasaki Ninja 250 R is also expected to dominate the 250cc biking segment in India, coming from the house of the legendary Bajaj Auto. This is expected to provide a tough fight to the Honda bike in the 250cc category. The bike is a combination of great style and power packed performance and has definitely all traits to make it an attention catcher.

It comes with a liquid cooling 8-valve, fuel inject 249cc DOHC parallel engine powering to 32Hp with peak torque at 22Nm. It sports a semi-double cradle chassis and has been given 6-speed gearbox. It is expected to offer maximum speed in the range 160-170kmph.

Suzuki GW250:

The Suzuki GW250 has cleared all doubts surrounding its prospective launch and is indeed coming to India soon. It has all the flair that can make it dominate in the 250cc segment. It comes with a 4-stroke liquid cooled 250cc engine and powers to 26BHp at 8,500rpm and has peak torque of 24Nm at 7,000rpm.

The bike has been nicknamed Baby B King sports and will be a little heavier than the Honda bike. The Suzuki GW 250R is expected to have similar charisma possessed by its ancestors.

The Yamaha 250cc bike:

Yamaha Motors, led by Hiroyuki Suzuki, is now shifting dynamically towards superbikes buoyed by the success that the 250cc segment is achieving and is planning a launch in this segment pretty soon. The bike that is expected in this segment may be called the Yamaha Fazer 250 and will have a 2-valve, 4-stroke, 249cc  SOHC air-cooled petrol engine and is expected to deliver strong power with an impressive pickup, which could accelerate the bike to 60kmph within 5.2seconds.

Bajaj Pulsar 250cc:

The high acclaimed Bajaj Pulsar 250 bike from Bajaj Auto is being expected to have an upgraded version for the 250cc segment, if market rumors are to be believed. There has been no announcement regarding the same from Bajaj Auto though. However, market sources feel that the new model will have the same engine as the same model. The present Bajaj Pulsar 250 has an oil-cooled, 4-stroke 220cc DTS-i petrol engine accompanied with 5-speed manual gearbox that offers excellent performance combined with great fuel economy.

TVS Apache RTR 250:

After receiving rave views for the TVS Apache RTR 250 on its unveiling at the 2010 Auto Expo, the bike is set to debut on Indian roads in the next few months.  It is now being rumored that this bike is being brought out with a 250cc engine by its maker, TVS Motors. It has been blessed with all latest features on the power and technical front, and has ABS to support it. The bike will have a 250cc 4-stroke single cylinder engine generating maximum power and torque 30BHp and 22Nm respectively. It will also be provided with 6-speed manual gearbox.

Triumph 250cc:

With the revolutionary growth of the superbike segment in India, it has now become a favored market for most Indian bike manufacturers as they enter the country with their offerings. Triumph, the bike maker from Britain, is now expected to introduce its debut bike for India expectedly in the middle of 2012.

It is yet to be analyzed on how all these bikes are going to perform in terms of results. However, one thing that is certain is the fact that there advent into India is going to revolutionize the biking segment within the country.
