Bangalore: Micromax’s first quad core, A116 Canvas HD Smartphone has been showing a higher than expected sales figure since its launch last week. The
Smartphone which is available on the company website and Snapdeal.com
started on a higher note with 9000 units being sold in 24 hours. The
company stated that the Smartphone was being booked at a pace of 25
units per minute.
Snapdeal.com sale of the first lot of A116 Canvas HD Smartphones went
within fifteen minutes of its announcement on midnight of 14th
February, 2013. At the second slot, there were 300 units for sale at
9:00 am being sold within fifteen minutes and the third slot of 1200
phones took around 45 minutes to be sold.
Shubodip Pal, CMO Micromax said that this was the first time their
online sales partners witnessed a digital queue in cyberspace for such a
product. The data also showed that 60 percent of the orders came from
metros.
Tony Navin, Vice President – Business Development, Snapdeal.com said
that their call volume shot through the roof with enquiries and that
their partnership with Micromax was more than a year old, and they were
also looking forward for such a meaningful association in the future
soon.
The dual SIM A116 Canvas HD features a 5 inch HD display with a screen
resolution of 1280 x 720. There is an 8-megapixel real shooter with LED
flash and 4X Zoom and a VGA front camera.
Powered by a 1.2GHz Media Tek’s MT6589 processor, the device has
Android OS 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system. Its other features include
a 1GB RAM and a 4GB of internal storage which can expand up to 32 GB
through microSD card.
Micromax said that they were looking forward at replenishing the stock
at the earliest but did not specify the exact availability date for the
same.
