For a long time now, Sony has managed to offer some of the best battery life stats in the big-brand smartphone segment. Now, a new battery life test by PhoneArena has confirmed that the Xperia Z3 will continue Sony's tradition of providing best-in-class battery life. In fact, the Xperia Z3 went on to crush Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by offering more on-screen time.
The publication used a custom web-script designed to replicate the power consumption of typical real-life usage to measure battery life. In this, the Sony Xperia Z3 topped the chart with a whopping 9h29m of on-screen time.
This happens to be quite a feat since the smartphone has just a 3100mAh battery, smaller than the 4100mAh battery in the efficient Ascend Mate7. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 managed a second place with a solid 9h3m of screen time
For Sony, the good news is that the Xperia Z3 isn't its only phone on the chart. Other Sony smartphones include the Xperia Z2 at 8h10m (in third place) apart from six others.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 came in fourth, delivering 7h38m minutes of screen time. The HTC One (M8) was fourth with 7h12m of life.
Apple's brand-new iPhone 6 Plus came in sixth on the scoreboard with an on-screen time of 6h32m. The smaller iPhone 6 came in at 10th place with 5h22m of on-screen time.
The improvement in battery performance between the iPhone 6 (5h22) and the older iPhone 5Sdoesn't seem to be great, since the older phone managed just 20 minutes less (5h2m) in this test.
