Jolla smartphone running on Sailfish OS launched on Snapdeal, priced at Rs 16,499


As expected, Jolla today launched its first smartphone in India exclusively on Snapdeal. The device is priced at Rs 16,499.
As far as specifications are concerned, the smartphone features a 4.5-inch IPS qHD display, 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Also included are 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,100mAh battery. Connectivity options include LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
The handset runs on Sailfish operating system, which comes with several intuitive features. It supports gesture based controls for navigation, and customizable interface. Jolla handset is also well known for its multi-tasking abilities that allow it to run multiple apps side by side on a single screen. Sailfish operating system is based on Linux, and supports Android apps. While there is no Google Play Store, users can download Android apps via other third-party app stores including Yandex and Aptoide Store.
The Jolla smartphone comes with replaceable back cover, and the company has announced that the first 90 customers who buy the phone off Snapdeal will receive a VIP box with Aloe, Poppy Red, and Keira Black color back covers.
