How To: Weed out bloatware from your Galaxy S4

Here’s a simple workshop to help you get rid of almost 170 unwanted system apps pre-installed on your SGS4, free up some space and increase battery life and performance to quite an extent.
How To: Weed out bloatware from your Galaxy S4
The wealth of features on the Samsung Galaxy S4 combined with super good looks make the smartphone a very tempting option, but the downside is that  there are a few unwanted applications that might not be welcome by many. For example, you don’t want the stock live wallpapers, such as phase beam and bubbles, floating around inside your phone for no reason; or the printing services waiting to be used in the background. While most might not be active every time you switch on your Galaxy S4, they are dormant and unnecessarily hog useful space. Some features like maps, social networking apps, widgets, weather apps and a few more run in the background even though you don’t use them – eating into your system resources and feasting on the battery life. Why not get rid of these and make your phone’s system lighter and enhance the battery life?

You can safely delete some of these apps and even restore them using a simple trick. But you need the phone to be rooted for this. So, if you already have a rooted phone, you may proceed to read this workshop, while those looking to root their newly acquired SGS4 can read this workshop before heading back here.

The method to get rid of the bloatware was put up on the XDA forums a while ago and is pretty straightforward. All you need is a rooted phone with a root-enabled file explorer to enter into the system area and delete the unwanted applications from there. It is advisable to make a backup before you do so, just in case you accidentally delete something you didn't intend to. Reinstalling the app is simple—copy the app you want back into the original location and set the permissions to "Rw-R-R" (see screenshot) and reboot the phone.

Note: Do not install these system apps as you would install any regular app, as it could crash the operating system. Before you do any changes to the operating  system files, we strongly advise you to take a complete backup (Nandroid) using the recovery mode and then proceed. In case you mistakenly delete something important, you can simply recover the entire operating system from the backup.

Backup, uninstall, freeze and defrost apps easily with Titanium Backup

You can also get rid of the bloatware using Titanium Backup  by either freezing the app or uninstalling it. Titanium Backup also features automatic backup of the app you are uninstalling, so you are safe here too. To get the app back, you can simply defrost it or restore it using Titanium Backup. This is definitely the safest method to remove bloatware, but you won’t be freeing up any space. However, you would be reducing the unwanted load on the operating system for sure. You can also remove bloatware with apps such as "NoBloat" and "Root Uninstaller" available on Google Play. These apps can also back up and restore the apps at a later stage. It won't free up any memory on your phone, but will hide the apps from your app drawer and keep them from running in the background or popping up notifications.

Delete and replace apps within the system folder with a root-enabled file explorer
Delete and replace apps within the system folder with a root-enabled file explorer

For many, the pre-installed system apps are named differently and are hard to tell by their names itself. For example, who would ever imagine that “peel.apk” is Samsung’s WatchON app that uses the IR module as an infrared remote controller? To make things a little more simpler, we have grabbed a list from the XDA Development Forums which highlights the app and its actual use so that you can safely decide what is safe for you to uninstall. Here is the list:
List of bloatware that can be safely removed (Click to enlarge)
List of bloatware that can be safely removed (Click to enlarge)

Please note: In order to keep the deleted apps from reinstalling automatically after rebooting, make sure you have deleted the app "PreloadIndtaller.apk" from the "/system/app" folder. If you forget to delete this app, the bloatware will reappear again after rebooting.

Once you have picked what you want to remove and what you want to keep, make a note, list down the apps, take a complete backup using the recovery (Nandroid), Titanium Backup and Root Explorer and finally proceed with the deleting. We advise you to take backups in the three methods just to be safe and sure that you can restore things back to normal incase of any mishaps. In case you have messed up the entire operating system, don’t panic; head on to the S4 development section on the XDA forums to procure the original firmware for your phone and flash it using the ODIN utility. Your phone should be back to normal (factory default). Those who prefer to be on the safe side and want to avoid deleting the apps can also choose to disable the apps from the operating system. To do this, go to “Settings -> More -> Application Manager -> All” and click on the app you want disabled. Others who prefer living on the edge can simply back up the existing ROM and flash a custom ROM called “Doc's Barebone”, which can be downloaded from the XDA forums. It is a barebone Android 4.2.2 version with an entire stock Android look and feel. Though this ROM might not give you additional eye-candy and features that Samsung originally offers, it is a great ROM for those looking for a clean ROM, which is great for battery life, storage space and multi-tasking.
Disable apps from the system settings to safely tuck them away.

Note: Rooting and flashing your phone is considered risky and can brick or damage your phone permanently. Rooting and flashing also will void any and all warranty on your phone. This workshop is created with inputs from various developers on the XDA forums. The above method might not completely work for your phone or operating system version. Proceed with the steps mentioned above with extreme caution. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone. Deleting apps from your smartphone can cause loss of certain or most features. Please choose the required apps to be removed sensibly. This is based on a few XDA Forum developers and various other followers. We have simply compiled it into this article. For more information and clarifications, please head over to the XDA Forums. If you have doubts on any apps listed here, or if you feel any more apps can be added to the list, please give your suggestions in the comments below.

How To: Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500

Searching for the easiest and safest method to root your new investment? Here you go.
How To: Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500
You just bought yourself a new Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 and you are impressed with your investment. The smartphone was shipped to you with an older operating system version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and the shopkeeper informed you to go ahead and update it from the Internet. You readily agreed and went home to start the phone and set up the email accounts and all the necessary applications on it. You also noticed the update from Samsung available and went ahead to install it. Now that you are pleased with the performance, you want to root it. Uh-oh! You went through a lot of websites online to find a method to root it and got the easiest one out. But it happened to be working on the older version of the operating system. Unfortunately, you have already updated to the latest firmware version from the Internet. Now your smartphone shows you the version or build number as "I9500XXUAMDK", which is not being rooted with the older method. So, how do you root your S4?

There are a lot of websites helping users out on rooting the Samsung Galaxy S4, but most of these are methods to root the older version of the operating system, which has been blocked by Samsung. The new version for the S4 states build number "XXUAMDK" and cannot be rooted as easily with the older method. We show you how you can root this version with great ease. So let’s get started.

First, confirm that the Galaxy S4 you are using is the I9500 (Exynos version) and not the I9505 (qualcomm version). You can confirm this at the booting screen itself or via "Settings -> More -> About Device". Check your build number here too – it should reflect "XXUAMDK" as the last few digits. Now you need to get your phone ready for the rooting. And for this you need to enable the USB Debugging mode. But the newer operating system does not have the "Developer options" visible or enabled in the settings by default. To enable it, click on "About Device" and scroll down till you see the "Build number". Now keep tapping continuously on the Build number field till  you see some messages on the screen counting down to enable the Developer options. After a while, you will see a message informing you that the "Developer mode" is enabled. Hit the back button and you will find the Developer options field available. Click on it and enable it with the toggle switch on the top right. Now head below to the "Debugging" section and enable "USB debugging". Finally, go back to the "Security" options and click on the field "Unknown sources" to allow third-party apps to be installed. Your phone is now ready for being rooted. Now all we need are two files and a simple utility to be downloaded from the Internet. Download the files from the links below.

Enable Developer options, USB debugging and Unknown sources
Enable Developer options, USB debugging and Unknown sources

Samsung SGS4 drivers. These are drivers required for the PC to recognise your phone.
Odin. This is the utility that will help you flash the above two files to your phone.
Adam’s kernel. This is an insecure kernel that needs to be replaced with the Samsung SGS4 kernel; it will also root the phone for you in a single step. It has a built-in auto rooting feature.
ClockworkMod Recovery. This is a recovery utility that you need to install on your phone to flash ROMs and take backups of your existing operating system.

The entire rooting takes around 10 minutes (even less actually) once you have everything in place. So let’s begin.

Preparing the phone: Make a folder on your desktop and unzip the files you downloaded into this folder. Switch off your SGS4 and wait for a few seconds. Now press the "Volume down" button and the "Home button" together and keeping the two buttons held down, press the power button. Release the buttons when you see the Samsung logo on the screen. You shall see a message stating that the phone is in download mode and asking you to continue by pressing the "Volume Up" button. Go ahead and press the Volume Up button once. Your phone is now in download mode and ready for being flashed with new files.

Put the phone in download mode by pressing the Volume down + Home + Power simultaneously
Put the phone in download mode by pressing the Volume down+Home+Power buttons simultaneously

Flashing and rooting: Plug in the USB cable to the phone and the PC. Windows will now be seen installing the necessary drivers for the phone. Wait for a while till all the driver installation work is done. Now open the folder where you have your files you downloaded for the rooting. Double-click on the Odin executable file. Odin will start up and you should see the phone connected to the utility and ready for flashing. To confirm this, the field "ID:COM" should have a light blue colour with "0:(ComXX)" written in it. (Please note that XX can be any number and will vary from PC to PC). This states that your phone is recognised by Odin and is ready. Now click on the button "PDA" and choose the file "GT-I9500_AdamKernel.V1.2.Odin.tar" from the folder where you stored the downloaded files on your desktop. Next, ensure that the check boxes "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time" and "PDA" are the only check boxes checked and the rest are not. Double check and hit the "Start Button". Watch the "Message" box on the lower left side to see if everything runs fine and there are no errors. This process will take a few seconds and Viola! The phone should reboot on its own. After the phone restarts, you should see the "Superuser" app installed and the phone already rooted automatically by this kernel. To confirm that the phone is successfully rooted, download any app that needs superuser permissions (such as Titanuim backup, ROM manager  or Root explorer) and you should be prompted for the root access.

Flash the kernel by choosing the PDA option and the .tar file
Flash the kernel by choosing the PDA option and the .tar file

Flash the CWM Recovery: Now that your phone is rooted, you will need the recovery utility to be flashed. The procedure is very simple and involves similar steps that you followed earlier. Proceed similarly as above—shut down the phone and put it in download mode and start Odin. This time, click the PDA button and choose the file "recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.2-i9500.tar.md5". Once again, ensure that the check boxes "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time" and "PDA" are the only check boxes checked and the rest are not. Hit the "Start" button and wait a few seconds till it gets done and the phone restarts automatically. Disconnect the phone from the PC and shut down the phone. This time, press the Volume Up button and the Home button together, and keeping the two buttons held down, press the power button. The phone should now enter the recovery mode automatically.

Congratulations! Your phone has now been rooted and you are free to install root-level applications and flash your own custom ROMs. For starters, go ahead and make a complete backup (Nandroid) of your existing operating system from the recovery mode to ensure that the operating system can be safely restored in case of a mishap.

Flash the recovery but choosing the PDA option and the .md5 recovery file
Flash the recovery by choosing the PDA option and the .md5 recovery file

Note: Rooting your phone is considered risky and can brick or damage your phone permanently. Rooting also will void any and all warranty on your phone. Proceed with the steps mentioned above with extreme caution. We are not responsible for any damage to your phone. The steps in the workshop are limited to the mentioned build version only. Do confirm this before you proceed. Root your SGS4 at your own risk.

Latest quad-core smartphones for less than Rs 15,000
The competitive smartphone market is getting fierce with multi-cored processors and large 5-inch displays. Lately, a slew of such handsets have been launched in the Indian mobile space – sporting all the nifty features that one expects in a high-end smartphone. We have jotted down the latest quad-core budget smartphones priced under Rs 15,000.

The improved version is expected to offer a prolonged battery life, owing to its power-efficient chipset and low-res display. While the original A110 is selling around Rs 10,000, the A110Q quad-core version is being sold for Rs 12,100.

It packs a massive 12MP camera at an affordable price tag that reads Rs 14,999. The device can accommodate two SIMs (GSM + GSM). Unlike most budget smartphones, the Andi 4.5d Quadro does not follow the “phablet” trend and sports a smaller 4.5-inch IPS display. Besides, the new sleek quad-core Gionee E3 priced at Rs 14,999 appears to be a good option, at least on paper. The device has a promising spec sheet, which includes 4.7-inch IPS HD display, 8MP camera, 16GB internal memory and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Some more options include the Celkon A119Q and the Lava Iris 458q. The A119Q is a quad-core, Android 4.2 version of Zen's previous A119 handset. It is priced at Rs 12,499. Nokia DC-18 external charger is like a Live Tile for power-ups

Nokia’s Asha 501 may be catching the attention this morning for its slick design and $99 price, but the new DC-18 charger isn’t going to let a smartphone get all the style kudos. It may only be an external power pack, but the Universal Portable USB Charger DC-18 manages to look better than most such bricks we’ve seen, though its 1,720 mAh capacity probably means you’ll only get a single recharge out of it.

The small capacity is down to the relatively small size, with the DC-18 measuring in at just 57 x 57 x 14.9 mm and 65g. Up front there’s a battery status indicator, which lights up with the current charge level when you pull out the retractable microUSB cable.

Pulling the cable free turns the DC-18 on, while tucking it back into place turns it off. That does leave the microUSB plug itself protruding, which seems like a recipe for getting it caught on your bag or the lining of your coat pocket, however.

Nokia will offer the DC-18 in four colors – a Lumia and Asha 501 matching cyan, magenta, white, and yellow – though the company is yet to confirm pricing. We’re guessing it’ll be relatively affordable, however, since the DC-16 (which actually has a larger, 2,200 mAh battery) portable charger comes in at around $40.

Samsung Galaxy Star vs Nokia Asha 501 for budgeters

Two phones worth putting side-by-side for the Indian market and those on a budget have to be the Samsung Galaxy Star and the Nokia Asha 501 priced around Rs 5,240 and Rs 5,400, respectively.

The Nokia Asha 501 is a little stunner and comes with reasonable specs, there are a few that would say you should choose the Asha over the Star because the Nokia phone looks more stylish and offers more in the way of colour choices, 6 different colours to be precise, the Galaxy Star only comes in black or white.

Some will prefer the Samsung Galaxy Star over the Nokia Asha 501 when it comes to mapping, Nokia Maps on one and Google Maps on the other, this is the case of personal preferences.
nokia-asha501
When it comes to the camera features the Star has 2MP (1600×1200 pixels) camera capable of QVGA@15fps video recording, The Nokia Asha 501 has a 3.2MP camera (2048×1536 pixels) and QVGA@15fps video recording – both of these handsets do not have a front-facing camera. So when it comes to the camera the Nokia wins this one, totally your choice if it’s the camera feature you want the most.

Both smartphones come with a 3-inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 133-ppi pixel density, so this turns out to be a draw. Both models come with a microSD card slot capable for up to 32GB, the Star wins here though because it comes with 4GB internal storage and the Asha 501 only has 128 MB.
Samsung-Galaxy-Star
Forgetting about the price etc, do you prefer Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS or Nokia Asha software platform 1.0 OS, there are more apps on Google Play so yet again its is a personal preference if you want loads of apps.

The Galaxy Star comes with ChatOn pre-loaded and also comes with Smart Dual SIM; it seems rather good if you are into social networking. Google Now and Google search are on board; it also has the Samsung Apps store.

The Nokia Asha 501 also comes with single or speedy dual SIM; it features pre-loaded software so you can access Facebook, Twitter etc. You can remove the back of the phone so you can switch to another colour when you feel like it, colours include cyan, red, white, black, green and yellow. If you do care about colour choices then we suggest sticking with the Nokia Asha 501.

Phones Review Says: There are a few things to look at here when it comes to choosing either the Samsung Galaxy Star or the Nokia Asha 501, Android is one of the most popular choices and the Asha 501 has a better camera, both are around about the same price for India.

So when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Star vs Nokia Asha 501 for budgeters, what one have you opted for?

Nokia Asha 501: A Specifications Review
Nokia has just refreshed its Asha series by announcing the brand new Asha 501. The phone is slated to hit markets sometime in June for under Rs 6,000 and is an attempt to spark new interest in the S40 platform. The revamped UI gives this ageing platform a breath of fresh air and also gives first time smartphone buyers a better experience compared to lower-end Androids. Let’s break down the specifications to see what’s what.

OS – New Asha platform
The new Asha platform borrows a lot of design elements from MeeGo in order to give users a fresh new look. This also means that developers will have to code apps separately for this new platform or port existing apps over. Luckily, the Asha 501 comes with all the bare essential apps like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, eBuddy, WeChat, Nimbuzz etc. with lots more to follow. Nokia’s HERE Maps will also be making its way to the platform soon.

Cellular connectivity – Dual-SIM support but no 3G
The Asha 501 will come in both single and dual-SIM variants, but we’re not entirely sure if we’ll get both variants. In order to keep the costs down, 3G support has been removed. This is not a big deal since most phones in this price range don’t support 3G and it’s not a high priority for the target audience either.

Plenty of colour options

Display – 3-inch TFT LCD
A 3-inch display is what you get with the Nokia 501, which seems about right given the price point. We’ve seen similar-sized screens on Android devices costing a lot more just a year back, so this is still acceptable. The resolution is just 240 x 320, but the OS is designed in such a way that pixels aren’t very apparent despite the low pixel density of the screen.

Form factor – One of the best we have seen in this price range
The most appealing part of the 501 is its design, which looks like its made of Play-doh. It actually reminds us of a Chiclet from the back. The 501 also sports removable covers and bold colours just like the Lumia range. In fact, it’s not by accident that the 501 looks similar to the Lumia 520, both in design and numbering.

Connectivity – Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth
The Asha 501 gives you basic connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There’s also a microUSB port for charging and data transfers. Sadly, we don’t have Wi-Fi ‘n’ onboard. There’s no mention of the type of SoC used or even the speed of the processor yet. The handset will come with 64MB of RAM, which seems a little less, so we’ll wait and see how this copes up during real world usage.

Storage – 4GB microSD card in the box
Once again, Nokia hasn’t specified the internal storage, so we doubt there’s any usable storage. You do get support for up to 32GB external memory via microSD cards – and there's a 4GB card in the box.

Cameras – 3.2MP shooter
There’s only the rear 3.2MP camera sans flash and auto-focus. This should be just about okay for that occasional capture. Video recording maxes out at QVGA, so it’s not exactly ideal but gets the job done.

Sensors – Only proximity and accelerometer
Given that it’s a budget phone, Nokia has bundled just the basic sensors in the Asha 501.
caption
A fresh new look

Battery – 1200 mAh Li-ion battery
The Asha 501 is fitted with a massive 1200 mAh battery and according to Nokia, the phone can deliver up to 17 hours of talk time. This is going to be the biggest hook for the Asha 501 and could sway many potential buyers towards this instead of an Android.

The bottom line
The Asha 501 looks like a very promising handset for Nokia, especially since there aren’t many good options down in this price segment. We have Android smartphones in this price range, but the experience is not a very pleasant one – not something we’d recommend. Nokia’s Asha 501 may not have the multi-tasking capabilities of, say, Jelly Bean or ICS, but for its target audience, that’s quite irrelevant. A person who buys an Asha 501 is not looking to play the latest game or expecting a thrilling multimedia experience. He or she just wants a few basic apps for social networking, instant messaging, little web browsing and good battery life, and the 501 manages to check all those boxes.

10 iPhone Apps for Keeping Score of Your Favorite Game

Author : Paul is a talented writer loves to write up articles on various subjects but has a specialization on writing articles related to i.phone apps. Paul has contributed so many articles for "babysittingjobs.com". You can check out one of his recent published article "http://www.babysittingjobs.com/blog/10-iphone-apps-for-keeping-score-of-your-favorite-game/".

When the playing season is long and you’re forced to tear yourself away from the television in order to go about the business of actually living, it’s not always easy to keep up with the scores that the best players of your favorite game put on the board. These ten iPhone apps put the results you want right in your pocket, ensuring that you never have to wonder about who’s in the lead again.
  1. Yahoo! Sportacular – This is the free version of  Yahoo! Sportacular, but the features are far from basic. You can track any number of your favorite teams, across a range of international sports. The app has multiple notification features, so you can tailor your experience to deliver the statistics you care about most. Yahoo! Sportacular has featured in App Store Hall of Fame, App Store Great Free Apps and App Store Essentials.
  2. ScoreMobile  - Fantasy Team fans of every sport will love ScoreMobile. Player Grouping allows you to create lists, which makes tracking your fantasy teams a breeze. As well as following individual players, you can track up to the second stats on your team’s performance, transfers and breaking news. With exclusive content from theScore.com, too, you’ll never miss an important update again.
  3. Sports Scores & Alerts – This free app supports alerts for MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA football & basketball. Where Sports Scores & Alerts trumps other free score tracking apps is in the number of ways you can customize alerts. Rather than using generic alerts, the app allows you to set up conditions for each of the supported sports, giving you a completely personalized experience of the game.
  4. Scorekeeper XL – This is not the most complicated or featured packed app on the list, but it does provide complete flexibility in its simplicity. As Scorekeeper XL works on the basis of the user entering player, team and score details, it works well for building your own scoring databases. This simple feature also means that you can track scores for your own amateur teams, games and sports. It’s a free and should be a welcome addition to any iPhone user’s arsenal of apps.
  5. Surebet LITE – If you’re worried about missing a valuable betting opportunity, then add Surebet Lite to your list of must-have free apps. Simply enter the bet size, number of events, set the odds and then tap calculate. All that’s left to do is adjust your stake to determine how much is going to provide the most profitable return, so that you don’t put all your money on the wrong horse – so to speak.
  6. ScoreApp – This is another user controlled score tracking app, which allows you to keep a record of your favorite game and players’ scores. Score app allows you to keep tabs on up to twenty players, as well as creating unlimited rounds for any given game. It is ideal for card games, board games and sports games, but there is no reason that you can’t use it to track professional sporting event scores, too.
  7. SmartScore – As is evidenced by the name, this is a very smart app. SmartScore displays results in a traditional scoreboard format. However, the scoreboard automatically adjusts to the condition of each sport. There are a number of popular international sports supported, including soccer, tennis, football, baseball and basketball. The app is free, and available for download from the App Store.
  8. Bet Tracker Pro – Whether you’re a betting enthusiast, or just like calculating the score probabilities of your favorite sport, Bet Tracker Pro has all the features you need. Real-time stats bring you the latest news and results from Accuscore. Perhaps the greatest thing about this free app is that you don’t even need to place a bet to get the adrenaline rush. You can make your predictions as though you have, right down to defining your stake and setting the odds, and watch as your picks either triumph or fail.
  9. Score Simple Plus – An app that is designed to track user-input scores at Baseball, Basketball, Football, Volleyball (Indoor & Beach) and a number of other popular sports, Score Simple Plus is amazingly versatile. There is a free version of the app, but the pro version comes with no ads, and keeps a record of historical games, too.
  10. Scoreboard Hub – This extremely customizable score tracking app allows you to share your scores with friends via Facebook and email, set up group competitions, and name times however you like. The screen icons are set-up like the iPhone’s native navigation system, so it won’t take you long to familiarize yourself with this free app’s interface.

Best kindle games for kids to have fun

Author :Alia is a writer/blogger. She loves writing, traveling and reading books. She contributes on Engage BRD

Scrabble is a game of words which can be played by participation of two to four players. However, in official club or tournament the game is played always in between two players. It is played on a board which is marked with a fifteen by fifteen grid. Little square buttons of the grid size with the English alphabets engraved on it are required to play the game. These square buttons are supposed to be placed on the playing board by the players according to their chance. The placing of the letter squares one after the other by players of the game if results in formation of a word mentioned in a standard dictionary then it add to the individual player's scorecard. The word formed should be formed horizontally or vertically in a crossword fashion. No diagonal formation of words is allowed.

The game is available in 121 countries and in 29 different languages. In English language scrabble there are hundred tiles out of which ninety eight are marked with point value from one to ten. The point value is according to the frequency of which the letters appearing in English language. The letters that are commonly used are worth less point like E and O (one point). The letters that occur less frequently in English words like Q and Z are worth ten points. The remaining two tiles are blank tiles on the board. These blank tiles can be used as substitute for the tiles which have already been placed on the board.

There are 'premium' squares on the board that multiplies the number of points awarded to the player. According to the traditional version of the game dark red premium was counted as triple word square, pink as double word square, dark blue as triple letter square and light blue as Double Square. As per the new version of the game which was revised in the year 2008 by Hasbro, the colors of the premium squares have changed: orange for triple word, red for double word, green for triple letter and blue for double letter. Another square that is double word square is the center square marked with a star logo.

To begin the game the tiles are kept in an opaque bag and mixed properly. Each player withdraws a tile from this bag. Whoever finds a tile nearest to the beginning of the alphabet gets the chance to begin the game. A blank tile is regarded better than an A tile. These tiles are put back in the opaque bag after it has been decided whose chance comes when. At the beginning of the game each player is allowed to withdraw seven tiles at a time. A player can do three thing with his chance to place the tile, exchange the tiles or pass. If all the players pass two times in a row the game ends.

The game begins by placing a word on the star square at the center of the board. The star is a double word score. It does not act as a double word score for the players who are playing off the center square. The game is continued around the scrabble board in a clockwise direction. After placing tiles on the game board the player is allowed to pick new tiles from the opaque bag until the number of tiles equals seven. The player should not look at the tiles when choosing new ones. The general process of selection of tiles is by holding the bag above the eye and picking up tiles randomly one by one.

When a player succeeds in placing all seven tiles from the tile rack on the board at the same time, a bonus of fifty points it rewarded to that player. At the end of the game if a player holds less than seven ties and is able to place all on the board, the bonus cannot be considered. The game ends when all the tiles have been drawn from the bag and one of the players has used all his tiles on rack. When the game ends all the players count the points remaining at their rack. Each player has to deduct that point from their final score respectively. The one who ends the game gets a bonus which is the added value of points remaining on the rack of all the players. Now the player with highest score is declared the winner.

camping
Camping with kids can turn out one of two ways – a great experience for the whole family, or a nightmare that none of you will ever forget. The key to successful camping is in making sure that you’re properly prepared. You need the right tools and skills to survive comfortably in the wilderness, even for a casual weekend camping trip, so making a list before you set off is important. These ten iPhone apps are designed with adventurers and campers in mind, which will help ensure that you and your family have the best camping experience possible

You can search by city, state, province or nearby, which means if you don’t like your current camp location you can just move to another area with little hassle. The Woodall’s team is constantly evaluating parks to ensure that the ratings you receive are as accurate as possible, too.
  • Survival Guide – This app-guide is based on U.S. military field survival techniques, so you can be assured of your family’s safety on every camping trip. An effective way to ensure that you can safely navigate your way around hazards while camping is to make sure you have an easily accessible light source. 25 PPC Tips & Tricks to Try in 2013

The gym is always extra-crowded this time of year, full of people redoubling their fitness efforts and trying to stick to their weight loss resolutions. The good news is, you can apply the same enthusiasm to your AdWords account without having to park at a crowded gym and fight for a spot on a bench or in your favorite class!

PPC Tips
Are you ready to kick some AdWords ass in 2013? Try out these 25 tips from our Customer Success team to save time and money and get better results.

Enable Sitelinks

Sitelinks! They are quick and easy to implement (through WordStream software or AdWords), cost no additional money and can have an enormous impact on CTR’s.

Log Your Performance

I track my results daily. First thing I do every morning is log yesterday’s account level performance into a daily tracking spreadsheet. In this sheet I set up formulas to project the data in the month-to-yesterday and have the formula average the current performance over the remaining days in the month. What I’m left with every day is an understanding of what my performance will be at the end of the month. Since I (should) have clicks, impressions, budget and/or conversion goals already established, I know exactly where I’m going on any given day. If I only have one account I can do this at the campaign level but If I have multiple accounts (agencies) then it allows me to prioritize which account needs work now.

PPC Performance Log
No tricks other than that from me. It’s a lot of optimizing based off of behavior given the time.

Set PPC Resolutions

Resolution #1: Build a mobile website and landing pages.
Resolution #2: Start using phone tracking like Mongoose Metrics, or at least put different phone numbers on different pages.
Resolution #3: Start using the Dimensions Tab to find how to convert better.
Resolution #4: Split out your mobile and desktop campaigns (if you haven’t done so).
Resolution #5: Check your queries once again and work more with negatives.
Resolution #6: Try targeting display ads by placements and topics. Don’t rely only on keywords. Use retargeting as well.
Resolution #7: Get rid of the “limited by budget” sign. You are losing a lot of opportunities.
Resolution #8: Switch broad matches to “modified broad match.”
Resolution #9: Create ad scheduling (if you haven’t done so).
Resolution #10: Don’t leave your AdWords account on autopilot, hire an agency if you do not have time to manage it.

Take it Slow

Usually I tell clients if they are looking to restructure their accounts and make big changes to help with optimization they need to take is slowly. Making big changes too fast can be detrimental to your account. Take it slow, PPC is a marathon not a sprint.
Another thing I tell a lot of clients is that nothing in PPC happens overnight and nothing is 100% guaranteed so if something doesn’t work right away, don’t panic, try a new approach. Making subtle changes to the account can help.

12 More Advanced PPC Tips for 2013

  • Tag all of your Bing destination URLs with Google Analytics tracking code to ensure data is importing properly
  • Create a campaign that targets select managed placements on Google's display network based off what you know about your target market. Create some really great banner ads using the display ad builder.
  • If you are e-commerce, make sure you have revenue tracking set up in Google Analytics.
  • If you a service based company, integrate AdWords with your CRM to better understand the value of each click.
  • Duplicate campaigns based off customer-value from specific geographic regions. Spend more money where the average customer is worth more.
  • If you don't know, spend some time this year understanding what the lifetime value of a new acquisition is. Always look at click price with this in mind.
  • Set up remarketing through Google Analytics. Create separate ad groups to target different people.
  • Avoid searching for your own ad online. It is not a clear indication of performance and can easily distract you. Look at the data within AdWords, Analytics and other tools to make decisions.
  • Utilize Google Places and +1. Make sure you have linked AdWords with Places if you rely on local business.
  • For e-commerce, enable Google Shopping by setting up a Merchant Center account. Also check out Bing Shopping, as they are making regular improvements to it.
  • Read the Google Analytics Blog every day.
  • Always keep your Google Analytics Tab and your AdWords/WordStream tab open at the same time to make better bidding decisions.

How Will Wearable Tech Impact the Startup World?

Fitbit
Products like Google Glass and Nike+ FuelBand hint at the future of wearable technology. It looks pretty exciting, especially for entrepreneurs already planning to implement it in their own businesses and products.

But as cool as innovations like Google Glass seem from the consumer point of view, it's hard to imagine how wearable technology will become part of our lives (and the lives of our customers).
