Sony launches Cyber-shot RX100 II with NFC technology for Rs 42,990

Sony has now launched the successor to the Cyber-shot RX100, the RX100 II. The RX100 II is the first camera from the company featuring NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. The camera comes with a black aluminium body and a price tag of Rs 42,990.

The camera sports the newly developed back-illuminated 1.0-type 20.2 effective megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor for reduced noise in low-light scenarios. The CMOS sensor is combined with an f1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens for still photography as well as full HD video in any shooting situation.

The RX100 II comes with Wi-Fi capability, which allows users to connect the camera wirelessly with their smartphones to transfer photos or videos. Additionally, NFC support allows for one-touch connection with Android smartphones and tablets. The one-touch remote also allows users to trigger shutter release from their smartphone, a useful feature for group shots where the user does not want to be left out.

The camera also comes with a new Multi Interface Shoe and Multi Terminal. This basically means that the camera can feature a host of optional accessories, including an electronic viewfinder, powerful external flash and stereo microphone through the Multi Interface Shoe. The Multi Terminal also allows for the addition of other options like a shutter-release remote controller.

The camera sports a 3.0-type White Magic LCD screen that can be tilted up and down. Added in is TRILUMINOS Colour technology compatibility for natural colour reproduction when the camera is hooked up with the new generation of Bravia televisions.

The RX100 II comes with full HD video modes, which have been expanded to include 24p/25p shooting as well. Other features of the camera include a step zoom function that is accessible through the camera’s customisation menu. The control ring of the camera allows users to choose from five popular focal lengths—28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm or 100mm.

The camera has also updated its PlayMemories Mobile app to enable One-touch capabilities as well as an enhanced user interface, according to the company. The update is now available for free from the Google Play store for all Android smartphones. The new Cyber-shot RX100 II digital compact camera will be available across all Sony centres and major electronic stores in India from August 8.
