Looking for tablets under Rs 10,000? Here are five options...
Today, the sub-Rs
10,000 tablet segment offers a plethora of options in the Indian market.
In fact, it is the most sought-after tablet category. Whether you are
looking for a large display, voice calling or longer battery life, here
are five options that you can consider if your budget is just below Rs
10,000.
Nexus 7 – Rs 9,999
Nexus 7 – Rs 9,999
Nexus 7 powered with a quad-core processor
The recent price cut has placed the 16GB Nexus 7 (2012) in the sub-Rs 10,000 category. The Google tablet built by Asus is powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.3, and will possibly get all the future Android updates too. One can easily expect good performance with its hardware-software combo. If you’re looking for a budget tablet for gaming, then the Nexus 7 is the most powerful out of the lot. The HD IPS display comes with high pixel density and good battery life for media consumption. On the downside, it lacks expandable memory, SIM support and rear camera. So, it isn’t for those looking for a tablet with voice calling.
iBall 7334i - Rs 9,700
With voice calling
In similar price range as the Nexus 7, the 16GB iBall 7334i comes
across as a good option with dual SIM voice calling facility. It is
powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual-core processor coupled with 1GB
RAM, and runs on Android 4.1.The 7334i comes equipped with a 7-inch
display featuring 1024 x 600 pixels of resolution along with support for
3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS with A-GPS. On paper, it has some nifty specs and
worth considering, given its price. The only hiccup seems to be the
low-res display and cameras. All in all, it’s a decent option for those
looking for a tablet with voice calling under Rs 10,000.
Swipe MTV Volt 1000 Tablet – Rs 8,499
Sporting a 6-inch display
The Swipe MTV Volt 1000 tablet is for those who want to own a

it is powered by a dual-core MTK6577 processor clocked at 1GHz along
with 1GB of RAM. The Volt 1000 runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, and its
highlight is the 8-megapixel rear camera. The tablet also comes with a
1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
BSNL Penta T-Pad WS802C DC – Rs 8,599
Fuelled by a 5000 mAh battery

The tablet also supports Wi-Fi as well as 3G. One of its highlights is the 5000 mAh Lithium battery that fuels the device for a long-lasting battery life. It is quite similar to the impressive Penta T-Pad WS802C, and comes with some improvements.
Kobo Arc – Rs 9,999
7-inch Arc now available for Rs 9,999
The recently launched Kobo tablet comes with almost similar specs as the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD. Both devices come with the same pricing, but the Kobo Arc is available at an introductory offer for Rs 9,999. The tablet sports a 7-inch HD display with pixel density of 215ppi and skinned Android UI. Under the hood, it is powered by a dual-core TI OMAP processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM. The rated battery life is up to 10 hours, but we can confirm only when we get our hands on the device and perform the battery test. On the connectivity front, one will find Wi-Fi, but the device doesn’t support Bluetooth. It has a 1.3MP front-facing camera, while a rear camera has been given a miss.
You can also take a look at the Karbonn Smart Tab 10 that comes with a large 9.7-inch display and is priced at Rs 9,050. Which one of these budget tablets would you pick?
