Samsung Galaxy Gear, an Android powered smart watch, is said to be
unveiled on September 4 alongside Note 3, according to new reports. The
South Korean giant is mum about its first smart watch; however,
Bloomberg and Sam Mobile have come with inside details in respect to
Galaxy Gear. Samsung reportedly wants to reveal its intelligent watch, a
little early than Apple iWatch to grab eye-balls.
According to Bloomberg, Samsung Galaxy Gear will be unveiled next month
that can receive/make calls, surf the web and handle e-mails. The reveal
was made to Bloomberg by two concerned persons familiar with the
matter. The report further says intelligent watch by Samsung will be
powered by Android. The device is expected to go on sale this year
itself.
It will carve a niche for sure as this is an initial product in the
market," said Chung Chang Won, an analyst at Nomura Holdings Inc. in
Seoul. "Wearable devices could be one of the trends in the smartphone
market, but I'm not sure yet whether watches or glasses will set the
trend." (Via Bloomberg)
" The Galaxy Gear being released next month won't have a flexible
display, though the company is continuing to work on developing a
bendable screen, one person said. It will be unveiled the same day as
Samsung's Galaxy Note 3, a combination smartphone and tablet computer."
This could mean that Samsung is still unsure about Flexible display
technology. Rumors say that Apple iWatch would be made by using Flexible
 display.
Meanwhile, Sam Mobile, also shares some pretty inside details about
Galaxy Gear. Samsung Galaxy Gear watch will be officially introduced at
the unpacked Episode 2 event. Sam mobile also managed to provide the
model no - SM-V700. However, it will be a companion accessory used with
Galaxy watches.
Samsung has filed few patents in context to Galaxy Gear. Let's hope
Samsung will make Galaxy Gear watch official on September 4. Stay tuned
